MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL IN ISTRA

Day 1 – Arrival day
Arrival in Pula, overnight in hotel.
Day 2 – Medieval festival in Svetvinčenat
Breakfast in hotel, then full day visit to the Medieval festival in Svetvinčenat where you will see the parade of ladies, knights and archers, equipment and armor of knights, duels and battle of knights, the siege of the castle with catapults, fire balls and fire arrows, shooting with bow and arrow and crossbow. During the Festival visitors will also enjoy a medieval fair, the old arts and crafts and traditional food. Return to Buzet.
Day 3 - Pula – Beram – Motovun – Grožnjan
Meeting with guide after breakfast. We start the day with sightseeing of Pula with Roman Amphitheatre, Small Roman Theatre, Triumphal Arch – Golden Gate, Temple of Augustus and other valuable monuments.
Departure to Beram, one of the oldest continuously populated settlements in Istria -during the iron age a settlement already existed here. Over the ruins of the ancient walls Roman forts and medieval castles were later built. The cemetery church of St. Mary of the Rocks holds well preserved late-gothic frescos. Visit to a medieval small town Motovun on a top of the hill that dominates the river Mirna valley and Grožnjan with its narrow, stone streets and medieval walls. Rich schedule offers almost daily concerts, exhibition openings, performances and visits to art workshops. Return to Buzet.
Day 4 – Pula – Pazin – Buzet – Roč – Hum
Breakfast in hotel. Further exploring the picturesque medieval Istrian towns with guide. Visiting the old town of Buzet, situated on a 150-meter-high hill overlooking the fertile Mirna valley. Buzet is also known as the “City of Truffles” since it is situated in an area rich in this highly prized underground mushrooms. Departure to Roč, hilltop town surrounded by defensive walls which was mentioned for the first time in 1064 and Hum, “The smallest town in the world”, also the final point of the famous monument complex known as the Glagolitic Lane commemorating the importance of Glagolitic literature. Last stop is in Pazin, situated in the very centre of Istrian peninsula, known for its Castle – the biggest and the best-preserved medieval fortress in Istria. Return to Buzet.
Day 5 – Pula
Breakfast in hotel. End of the tour.
